The tracking software is the biggest miss. For some roles it makes sense, but measuring hours instead of outcomes doesn’t fit a place full of high performers. It can end up rewarding busywork and punishing efficiency. The focus should really be on results, not time spent staring at a screen.
The CEO recently started doing skip-level meetings, which was a nice effort to connect with employees. It felt a little formal, but it’s still great to see that kind of access at lower levels, most companies don’t even try.
Next time, it’d be great if those chats were more conversational and gave people a chance to share their ideas or passions.
