Pros

Absolutely nothing positive to say.

Cons

My four years at Tipalti were, without exaggeration, some of the most frustrating and disheartening years of my career. Despite being a consistently high-performing sales rep who regularly went the extra mile—even whilst dealing with significant personal challenges—I was repeatedly made to feel undervalued, unsupported, and entirely replaceable. One of the lowest points for me personally was being expected to work during my paternity leave. Instead of being given the time and space to support my family, I was chased to close a deal that I had already put considerable effort into. I ended up completing the work, delivering on everything asked of me, and even presenting company-wide on multiple occasions about the “fantastic job” I had done. Yet, despite all of that, I was ultimately not paid the commission for that deal. It was an incredibly demoralising experience and left me feeling exploited at a time when I should have been focusing on my family. From the outset, it was evident that Tipalti does not prioritise or genuinely respect its salespeople. Commission was a constant source of frustration: payments were routinely far lower than what I believed I had rightfully earned, and there was a glaring lack of transparency or urgency when concerns were raised. No matter how much I contributed to the team, the attitude seemed to be that my efforts were expected, not appreciated. Another infuriating aspect of my time there was the debacle surrounding my share purchase. I attempted—twice—to buy my shares, sent the money, chased multiple times, and still ended up being informed that it was “not possible to extend” the deadline. The sheer lack of accountability and the complete absence of internal coordination were astonishing. It was an appallingly mismanaged process that ultimately cost me the opportunity altogether. No apology. No responsibility taken. No solution offered. In my opinion, Tipalti is poorly run at almost every level, particularly when it comes to supporting the people who actually generate revenue. Sales reps are treated as disposable rather than as skilled professionals. During my time there, I saw capable colleagues burn out, morale nosedive, and countless talented individuals leave simply because leadership would not invest in or listen to the employees keeping the company afloat. If you are considering working here—don’t. Not if you value fair compensation, clear communication, competent leadership, or a company that actually cares about its staff. My experience was consistently disappointing, discouraging, and demoralising, and I would not recommend Tipalti to anyone who expects professionalism, respect, or even the most basic organisational competence.

Pros

Good people. My direct manager was excellent and very supportive. Free lunch when in office. Health benefits are okay.

Cons

There have been numerous layoffs, and overall it feels incredibly unstable. The product has a lot of issues, which makes the onboarding role much harder than it needs to be. When deadlines are missed, leadership tends to blame the onboarding team, even when you’re doing everything you’re supposed to and the challenges are outside your control. It doesn't help that the Product has a lot of issues, and leadership will push on us to sell on more product features, that will make implementation even longer and the features are not ready to be used by customers. Sales regularly overpromises to customers, then avoids accountability when those expectations can’t realistically be met. Most process changes seem to benefit Sales while making onboarding even more difficult. Pay is below industry standard, and as a result, many of the strong employees don’t stick around for long. While my coworkers are great, it seemed like everyone was miserable. Always complaining about customers, leadership, turnover, layoffs, low pay, and questionable policies. It's not a healthy work environment, and leadership needs to introduce changes immediately if they want to attract and retain talent. Performance is heavily data-driven, which isn’t inherently a bad thing. However, evaluations tend to focus too narrowly on metrics like average implementation time, without fully considering the many factors outside an employee’s control that impact results. As a result, overall performance and contributions don’t always feel fairly assessed.
