Pros

Bonuses can be very good when business is good. There are still some good people around but many are leaving. TEL US was much more enjoyable and cohesive before the 2024 reorg.

Cons

Very little emphasis on technical skills for technical positions. If you're technically competent you get to do more work and the incompetent get to slack off. Limited opportunity for career growth. The only opportunities are where they want to put you, your background or career goals are irrelevant. When you work hard and get exceeds expectations the raise you get is 0.1% more than an average one. If you're a contractor here you won't get hired on as a full time employee, lots of people stay as a contractor for 3+ years waiting for the offer that never comes. Management doesn't want to convert people to full time employees because it looks better for headcount to Japan HQ. The training is very poor and doesn't set FSEs up for success as the company's front line representatives. Upper management is completely out of touch with what happens in the field and how to skill someone up to be a competent FSE. They're more worried about endless safety presentations and protocols than improving the product (field service) that TEL US is selling. HR looks down on FSEs and views them as disposable hourly workers while viewing themselves as the most important branch of the company.
