Pros

People are nice. I like my manager a lot. Good benefits IF you live close enough to campus. They do try in some areas-insurance, time off and health programs are all pretty good. This really used to be one of the best places to work.

Cons

Unwillingness to listen and move forward. CEO and Executive leadership are completely unaware of what goes on and refuse to see it but pretend they know and understand the people at the “bottom.” Required meetings on campuses are a waste of time and money, they could be online. Lower management is forced to take all responsibility for the terrible decisions and bad culture that executive leadership mandates.. Executive leadership takes NO accountability for anything they do, forcing their underpaid frontline employees to handle all the muck while they sit pretty with their company cars and fancy offices. Deposit rates (set by executive leadership) are too low to be competitive so members take their money elsewhere but branch staff is blamed and docked for the loss. Raises are not annual or even biennial. They cry poor mouth and say they can’t give raises but the money wasted in this company is atrocious. It is spent on themselves, an attempt to prove their importance while their rates and employees suffer. Towne is trying to “keep up” instead of focusing on the good they once had. Middle leadership says “what can I do for you?” and then nod and smile but no changes are made because they have no authority to anything, they are just a cover to make employees feel “heard” so they don’t quit, at least as fast. The amount of waste and spending is going to be their downfall.

Pros

A lot of genuinely great people there, and the amenities on the main campus are great.

Cons

Not catered to younger professionals. They won't take you seriously as a younger person, and you'll start to see gray in your hair before you feel like you're really being compensated for your talent and expertise, in my opinion. It's not a place that you want to stay for more than 3 years. Just get your experience and leave for another institution that'll really appreciate your talent and experience. There aren't a lot of opportunities for younger professionals, especially LEAD associates, to advance into. And if there are, you might be gaslit into believing that a position somehow aligns with your future goals and interests. You'll see your peers get leapfrogged over you, which happens in every organization, but for one as tight-knit as this, you'll see that the favoritism can happen way more often than usual. They tend to place LEAD associates into a box, and steer them towards a position that you yourself don't want.
