Supportive team but poor training and management issues - Inside Sales Representative Townsquare Interactive Employee Review

Pros

-The other inside sales representatives, everyone is very supportive of one another and wants to see eachother succeed.

Cons

-Training period is inconsistent and inefficient. First week is very thorough with a specialized sales trainer, but after that you receive very little guidance. Basically, you are thrown into the deep end and expected to figure everything out on your own after the first week. Managers pick favorites and focus solely on those individuals because they want them to pull in money so they can get a cut. -If you are not meeting their expectations, management will talk poorly about you to your coworkers, rather than work with you on improving your sales skillset. - A new hire group is brought in every month because it is a revolving door of employees there. If you are not doing well, they do not care and move onto the next. You have no value to the company unless you are a top seller. - HR seems non-existent, constant inappropriate conversations are happening on the salesfloor between both management and staff. - The workplace culture is very fragile given the way management treats their employees, constant threats are made to try and scare employees into performing better. -Inconsistencies in required KPIs, constantly changing creating confusion throughout the floor. -During "training month", a lot of nonsense occurred rather than actual training. Conversations on topics that should not be brought up in the workplace constantly occurred and wasted precious learning time, which ultimately affected performance. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE NEW TO SALES.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. It’s encouraging to hear that peer support among the team stood out, but it’s equally important that every employee feels consistently supported by leadership as well. Your comments around training structure, communication, and workplace environment and ones that we take seriously.

Pros

If you can sell you can work here for about 7 or 8 months. If you don’t have a soul, you could see yourself here maybe 7 or 8 years. Some people go for 14 only to be spat out in an instant. I would only recommend it to those looking for a trial by fire in sales. If you end up working here just make sure you stay for a good time not a long time. It’s great if you wanna meet people after moving to Charlotte.

Cons

You know I go back in forth with these guys. I worked here in 2021 and 22 and only made it about 8 months. I did well there. Hit my quota consistently, even exceeded it. Was one of the best reps on my team, quickly. But after not too long I started to notice that the product wasn’t aligning to how I was trained. We were being told by sales trainers and managers one thing, when another was actually the case. Personally I had a big problem with that. I realized that what I was being paid to promote was a complete lie and that I was potentially taking advantage of small businesses. It got harder and harder the longer I stayed and eventually I found something a lot better. And then soon after leaving I posted this scathing review on here that I later took down because I thought hey maybe it’ll get better right? Well today I saw that their head of sales is all of a sudden leaving the company. And over the years I’ve watched as countless top reps, managers, and executives have all come and gone. Then you look at all these reviews over the years and they’re all the same. Nothings changed since I’ve been there it seems besides the people who speak the lies. The theme never changes and the people there the longest are the worst kind of people. People who are more than happy to take money from people who barely have any at all for something that will never work. If you’re that kind of person then get ready for an exciting next decade.
