Pros
When you leave, you leave your problems. Atmosphere is usually positive, other associates are helpful and friendly. There is flexibility in hours to work. The customers are great. Expectant parents are usually very happy in anticipation of their upcoming big event and that comes across when you do business with them.
Cons
Schedules are posted usually be Wednesday or Thursday for the next week. Therefore, it's hard to make personal plans for that week. I've seen it where the schedule wasn't posted until Saturday night and the work week begins on a Sunday. It gets worse if you work in a specialty area like furniture. If they need a day off, they have to switch with someone else from the furniture department. This makes it hard to have an outside life or find someone else that will fill in for you. The store is extremely short staffed recently---they just let go all their F/T long term employees. The employees were told that they could re-apply for p/t positions and would get the prevailing wage for a new associate.
