Pros

Pros to working for Transamerica... it will encourage you to find what you truly value in life. Be it your family, hobby, new career... because you will be so miserable, you’ll have to find something outside of work to keep you sane. Hopefully you are not resorting to alcohol as your main hobby.. many do.

Cons

The good ol boys club has promoted too many individuals that are either under-qualified or out of touch with what their position requires in an industry that has changed greatly over the last few decades. They are too lazy to understand new concepts and trends in the industry and will rely on “how things have always been done.” This trickles down the lines of management. As they say, the fish stinks from the head. Training is a joke. Marketing cannot deliver items that are needed in a timely fashion. Competitive intel is not provided. Compensation is quoted as higher than what you should expect to earn as the sales goals are generally not attainable; most territories do not hit the goals that are given. Benefits are just ok, at best. There are much better shops in Denver in financial sales.

Although your feedback is not what we would necessarily like, I appreciate that you have engaged with us. As a current employee, I would like to see if we can work with you to resolve some of the concerns you have raised. The first step would be to discuss with your team Manager. If you are not comfortable in having that discussion, that’s OK; I would encourage you to speak with your Human Resources Business Partner. We would like the opportunity to address your concerns with you. You raise an interesting point regarding product. Part of our strategy is optimizing our portfolio. By reducing the number of products, we are able to have a laser focus on those markets and products. It also leads to more innovation, which will ultimately benefits our customers. It’s a journey though, and will continue to be one as the industry and customer needs evolve.

Pros

great account management team. Great bosses. pension. decent benefits. managers allow flexibility.

Cons

the account managers are the only ones held accountable. other departments don't answer emails for weeks, don't do their jobs and no one in upper management cares. directly effects account managers so you get yelled at by clients and brokers a lot. don't get paid enough to do the job of the account manager and take on the other departments work.
