Pros

Most of the people who work here are talented and dedicated, which leads to a generally enjoyable work environment. Work is challenging and varied. There is no "face-time" requirement and there is flexibility to attend to personal and family matters as needed, so long as you get your work done.

Cons

The Company is owned by a foreign parent that has no understanding or care about employees below upper management level. There is little to no consideration of what is best for the employees and excessive concern for Wall Street analysts and shareholders. The Company has gone through major reorganizations in recent years and has closed several locations, losing many valuable employees in an effort to impress the analysts. Also, it's a sales organization first and foremost and the Company values revenue generating employees far more than any other employee. Employees outside of the sales departments are second-class citizens to management.

Thank you for taking the time to provide insightful feedback. We very much appreciate you highlighting some the positive aspects of working at Transamerica, primarily our people and the flexibility. We are, in fact, owned by Aegon, which is based in The Netherlands (if you would like to learn more about Aegon please follow this link http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQ2Dq). As an organization, we have had to make some very tough choices, and many factors went in to those decisions. For example, consolidating our location footprint better positions us to provide our customers with more effective service, and allows us to be more agile in an industry that is evolving very quickly. We understand that all areas of the business play a critical role in Transamerica’s future and success. Without either the Sales team or the back office support, neither would succeed. This is why we work hard to ensure, that across the business, we are working hand in glove to reach our goals together.

Pros

It all depends on the are you work in the company, but you can get a really supportive manager.

Cons

1. They give you a job description and then add responsibilities without pay. Especially when it comes to phones. Been in 2 departments and they both promised minimal phone calls in the positions and then continued to force the teams to take overflow calls. 2. They don’t reign in the micromanagers.
