Not a good environment to work - Anonymous employee Transamerica Employee Review

Pros

Benefits are similar to other financial companies.

Cons

Transamerica buys companies, uses the knowledge of the people to finish the projects and then lays off or closes the facility and people from the previous company. The knowledge and people are assets and not recognized for that. Company structure is siloed and employees only know the specific details of their job and are not willing to work out side the box and improve processes in anyway.

Thank you for this feedback. Although our benefits are very similar to other companies, we do offer a pension to our employees. Most recently we added an option for pet insurance – how cool is that? As a large insurance and financial services company, we must stay competitive with other similar organizations. This is why we are updating our technologies to better serve our customers. There are many opportunities to network with other employees from other areas to learn more about what they do. We have a number of Employee Resource Groups (ERG), volunteer opportunities and communities pages. It might sound cliché, but you never know when you meet someone, if they will be a help to you down the road.

As a producer, there is unlimited income potential.

Cons

People have to see a need to sit down and talk with you, which can sometimes be discouraging.

Pros

It all depends on the are you work in the company, but you can get a really supportive manager.

Cons

1. They give you a job description and then add responsibilities without pay. Especially when it comes to phones. Been in 2 departments and they both promised minimal phone calls in the positions and then continued to force the teams to take overflow calls. 2. They don’t reign in the micromanagers.
