Pros
The only Pro I can think of is that they pair fairly well for the area. They do take advantage of people salary wise who do not know how to advocate for themselves to the tune of 10s of thousands of dollars.
Cons
I took my posting at Transfinder expecting it to be a good opportunity and I was pleased during the interview process. What I wound up with was so so so much worse. Nearly every one of my set expectations in interview process never really came to fruition. I definitely felt like the wool was pulled over my eyes. As for the day to day - It is filled with micromanagement depending on your management, a ton of useless meetings, and countless times you are left scratching your head with confusion and aggravation. The three pillars of the company CEO, COO, and Director of development are constantly at odds with eachother which confuses everyone daily. Generally your time is wasted here - you are lucky if people show up to your meetings on time. To elaborate even with a 5-10 minute grace period you might be waiting another 30 minutes just to leave the meeting for it to be started 10 minutes later which you are then expected to join. You then will be late for the rest of your day. If this was not common I would mention it but it was nearly 90 percent of time. You will constantly end your day feeling like you wasted time and your time was disrespected. There is a sever lack of communication but you are still expected to get your work done. Be prepared to stab in the dark a lot but also be prepared that you will nearly always be wrong and have to redo work. For those familiar with the software industry have probably heard the terminology of "founderitis". Transfinder may be a 25 year old company but the CEO has to be involved in everything which slows down everything. The CEO is a really cool guy who is definitely admirable but struggles to let go of his hold over nearly all facets of Transfinder. Why hire people then? Time off policies are antiquated and you dont get much. ---------------------------------------------------- As for the software - The software can do some cool things but over all it is very clunky, repetitive, and just not really fun to work with. Often times new things put in the software overlap and cause issues elsewhere for clients and just is not growing with the times the way it needs to. In a mature company you should have a clear roadmap and direction which is not the case. Decisions are most often times last minute, confused, and not clearly outlined which provides for a terrible working environment. I in good faith would not recommend working here unless you really need a job. If you are just starting out I would suggest that you try to find other opportunities as anything past basics here will potentially lead you to failure at other positions in the future.
