It's just a job. - Customer Service Representative (CSR) Travelers Employee Review

Pros

Hybrid work schedule (although there's literally no reason why csr's can't be fully remote if they want to), a good amount of PTO and a pension.

Cons

CONSTANT SYSTEM ISSUES. It seems like every other day there's an outage that prevents us from being able to service clients and agents. People have been complaining that their systems haven't been working properly for months. When the systems do work, they are extremely slow and outdated. There's literally no reason why a multi BILLION or possibly trillion dollar company should have this many problems. What they "upgrade" to has been out dated for ten years. They don't offer any solutions for it. They just shrug and say "oh well". The next problem is micro managing. What's ironic is the systems that monitor employees never break. Step one toe out of line and you'll be nailed to a cross for it. I feel like I was sold a dream job that turned out to be a lie. They make you think that there's so many opportunities but there isn't. Next level jobs rarely come up. And when they do, literally hundreds of people apply since we're all after the same things.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
