Pros

I’ve just reached my 90-day mark at Travelers, and I can confidently say it’s been a positive experience so far. Coming from a prior role at a different company where I struggled to feel motivated or inspired, this has been a total turnaround. From day one, my new colleagues have been welcoming, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about their work. The energy across teams is contagious and creates an environment where you want to do your best every day. Travelers also offers a wealth of opportunities for both professional and personal growth. Beyond the strong development culture, there are great extracurricular options like Toastmasters, the Running Club, and various Diversity Networks that make it easy to connect with others and grow outside of your core role and truly feel the Travelers Promise. The hybrid work environment is flexible and understanding, leadership clearly recognizes that people have lives outside of work. The emphasis on work-life balance has been greatly appreciated. Overall, my first 90 days have exceeded expectations and have me genuinely excited for the years ahead with Travelers.

Cons

I have none at this time.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
