Pros

Salary, benefits, financial stability and job security stand out as superior compared to competitors. This company has a collaborative work environment and it is not run by an exclusive small group that hands out edicts as you will find with many companies. Employees at every level are included in many of the big decisions that affect a large group, and this is very admirable. This company is full of highly skilled, experienced employees, that are dedicated to the company and the customer.

Cons

Pay increases tend to be small for many employees and compensation for many has not kept pace with the rising cost of living. Year-over-year motivation to maintain high performance has to come from within, because it will not come through annual compensation for the majority. The typical meets employee at this company would be seen as an exceeds employee at a lot of other companies. Consistently good performance, and year-over-year dependability, needs to be acknowledged financially more so than what it is.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
