Pros

- time off - flexibility to work from home during COVID - good job handling COVID - systems have improved

Cons

- not enough diversity on my unit. Most of the individuals were white conservatives who held views that were troubling to me as a minority. -had to jump through too many hoops to work from home pre-covid - being "voluntold" to take on roles/extracurriculars that I had no interest in -such a frigid atmosphere since AMs are not treated that fairly by AEs. Alot of the AEs did sneaky things to through AMs under the bus. - Poor training - Manager played favorites

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
