Pros

Tri-State compensates their employees very well. The benefits package is good. They are flexible when you need time for family matters.

Cons

The company is managed in a strictly top-down manner. Top management very rarely seeks input from the specialists who work for them, or even the senior managers who report to them. Unfortunately, these managers are not as knowledgeable as they think they are and the systems they implement don't solve the problems they are meant to address. There is a lack of teamwork. New and redundant systems are put into place as different mangers attempt to solve the same problem in different ways. The company has lost it's focus on serving it's members/owners as internal focus has shifted to pleasing management.

Pros

Good benefits. Hard to get fired. Opportunities to learn if so inclined. Some great lower level people who make the place go. Find a manager and play the political game. You won’t have to work. Some employees have light workloads and can get away with not doing much

Cons

Upper management is disingenuous. HR takes the side of management in all matters. Political environment with cliques. Dysfunctional practices and an inability to hear feedback. Self defeating practices. They increased the amount of upper management by maybe 50% during Highleys tenure while cutting down on employees and benefits to cut rates which did not happen. No pension for new hires. Have lost numerous members due to exits and more have announced. They plan to supplement loss of members to serve data centers. Overall not a good recipe for success
