Pros

Laid back environment yields reasonably happy workers. Decent graduate school stipend for a cheap US city. Okay cafeteria but far too expensive for its value.

Cons

Previously mentioned laid back environment breeds inefficient dealings with staff for any errors in either payment or reimbursement or even filing of paperwork.

Pros

Many of the staff who I've interacted with at the University truly do want to make impactful changes whether in a student facing role or a business/operation role. The staff in the student facing roles really do try to assist students and make their lives as seamless as possible when needed. While not beneficial to me the ability to pursue a degree paid for by the school is a great perk.

Cons

There is often a lot of turnover in positions that are instrumental to having a university run smoothly due to an undervaluation of those staff members. In the same vain when these teams lose personnel much of their work is folded onto the remaining team members without any increase in pay or title. This in turn causes significant burnout and usually leads to even more turnover. There is also not really a clear path in growth for staff positions often people will move to another department within the university to see any potential growth.
