My name is Leigh Fatzinger, Founder and CEO of Turbine Labs. I appreciate your feedback and giving us the opportunity to address your comments. As always, anyone considering a role at Turbine Labs can contact me directly at Leigh(at)turbinelabs(dot)com or call me at 720-414-5523 to discuss.
From what you've stated, you worked for our company at its earliest stage (we moved out of that co-working space almost three years ago).
Do startups change over the course of three years? For anyone considering a career at Turbine Labs, please consider a few points that I hope will answer that question:
-The team at Turbine Labs has more than tripled in size in just the last two years. Those who've joined include incredible talents who have left market-leading companies such as IBM, Cision, Ascent360, Trimble, and others to join us - because they see the opportunity in front of us and believe they can have a substantial impact in executing on our vision.
-Our management team and employee experience team have built a place where people want to build their careers. In fact, we've had *zero* employee turnover in 2019.
-Our compensation is at or above market, commiserate with experience. Obviously, no one is required to accept an employment offer we make. But as you state, with less than 1% unemployment in the Denver area, the fact that we've grown so fast and have a 100% retention rate runs counter to a comparison you're trying to make at a time when the company had less than ten people.
-The feedback we receive from prospective employees is that, for our size, we offer a far better package than many larger companies in this market and our industry, which includes: unlimited PTO, generous stock option grants, 100% employer paid medical insurance, 401(k), unlimited free RTD passes, unlimited snacks, incredible company and team building events, and more.
-In fact, our team has been so effective that we've had to relocate *again* to a much larger space across the street from Fiddler's Green in Centennial, which features easy light-rail access, in-building cafe, full gym and locker rooms, and incredible views of the Rocky Mountains and downtown.
-And with all due respect, we have no 1099 contractors in our offices, nor have we ever used 1099 contractors for full-time positions. This is in comparison to say, a company like Google, of which contractors make up approximately 54% of their total workforce.
Successful companies don't just emerge from thin air. They evolve and grow based on the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. I agree with you completely - we've been fortunate to attract many wonderful, hard-working people. Many of those who applied their talent and dedication to Turbine Labs are now in management roles they themselves created. And new applicants are encouraged to ask them directly about their experience during the interview process.
I'm disappointed that your time at Turbine Labs did not meet your standards, and I hope you've found a role that does. If at any point you'd like to see the progress we've made first hand, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
