Pros

If you last until your birthday, you might get a good cake.

Cons

- No real training, you are thrown into the deep end with unrealistic expectations and time frames with little to no support from management. There is a real "figure it out" mentality. - During the interview, management will paint a picture of a relaxed and team-oriented start-up environment where breaks can be taken. However, you will be lucky to have time to a take a lunch break or get help on any tasks. - The culture here is toxic. When you take your issues to management, the issues will be ignored and you will be treated like a troublemaker. - One individual in "management" speaks to colleagues with no respect. CEO has been notified multiple times but does nothing to correct the inappropriate behavior. The individual will go out of their way to make your life miserable. - Absolutely no work-life balance. There are extremely unrealistic expectations of overtime and you will be lucky to have a weekend off. If you say you cannot work overtime because of personal plans, you will be told you are not a team player. - Extremely low compensation considering the level of stress, the toxic culture, and how you are spoken to by management. - No opportunity for growth or improvement of professional skills. - This is NOT a data analytics job. This company is performing simple PR tasks.

Turbine Labs Response

This is Leigh Fatzinger, Founder and CEO of Turbine Labs. First, I appreciate that you've taken the time to give our team feedback. So thank you. Any individual using Glassdoor to help make a decision about whether our company is the right fit is more than welcome to contact me directly to discuss your points, as well as their own future at our company. My email address leighf (at) turbinelabs.com, and my direct line is 720-414-5523. I would encourage anyone viewing this review to read my LinkedIn post on this topic, and make their own decision about our company in contrast to this review: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/virtue-blisteringly-bad-glassdoor-review-leigh-fatzinger/ Turbine Labs is a start-up. Yes, we have a "figure it out mentality", and we'll always have some of that. We encourage fresh ideas and never take for granted that our existing team doesn't have all the answers. That mentality serves innovative companies, including ours, well. The environment at Turbine Labs is fast-paced and never boring. Our products are in high demand. The company has doubled in size over the last year, and we expect to double again in the next 9 months. In that time we've spent a lot of time and invested heavily to accommodate our growth in balance with the needs of the people who helped us get to where we are. Here are a few examples: -We operate 18 hours per day in three shifts. Employees can (and do) go skiing before they come into work. Employees can (and do) leave at 2pm and hit the gym or the golf course. If team members do not *leave* work on time, they're considered 'late'. -We instituted an unlimited PTO policy in January, 2019 and encourage mental health days. We are able to do this because we're almost twice the size as we were in 2018. -We hold monthly small group lunches where I listen to individuals across teams to understand their needs from a training, tools, and personal perspective. -Any entry-level analyst can become a certified Sr Analyst at their own pace, and create their own promotion to, which includes a substantial increase in salary. Any Sr Analyst can, and does, work on new products, projects, or can explore creating a new role for themselves. -We have added a number of new roles to support our growth, including a Chief Operating Officer, VP of Engineering, senior engineers, account management and operations to better support our customers and our team. -We further improved our benefits program, and premiums have always been 100% paid by the company, almost unheard of for a company our size. -Every employee at Turbine Labs, including interns, has always been offered a generous grant of stock options, also unheard of for a company our size. -Our compensation packages are market-based and competitive, and based on a number of factors, including previous experience. When taking into consideration the other benefits, we are among the most generous for companies our size, at our stage. This is not to say working at Turbine Labs is not challenging. This is not to say we don't work long days. That is the nature of a professional career. It's the nature of a startup environment. But make no mistake: this is not a retail job. This is not a mundane data entry job at a big company. It's a challenging role in a rapidly growing company. As such, people who have grit and persistence, who are intellectually stimulated, curious, and hard working, do very well at Turbine Labs. As always, I'm available by email, phone, and in person to discuss further.
