Pros

- Relaxed work environment generally. - Flexible WFH schedule - Depending on area within company, interesting work.

Cons

For me personally: - Pay under market value - Lack of training support or continuing education - Lack of support in general - No clear form of advancement within company. Limited advancement opportunities. - Company cares more about it's contracts than it's people I need to provide some context here. The company I was a part of was not a part of Tyler until July/June of 2021, I had been with the company for 6 months at that point. I was a part of NIC, at the Colorado branch. NIC has since been folded into DGS, Digital Government Services. My viewpoint is from within that branch specifically. Tea/hot gossip: When the contract with colorado came up for renewal, a new board member made a specific point to say "The executive for this office needs to go, you're not getting this contract otherwise". Instead of putting their foot down and having the executives back, they complied. This was in 2023, the branch has been hemorrhaging people since. For anyone looking to take a job with DSG Colorado in IT. Don't. They won't pay market value and you won't be able to grow in a career here.

Pros

BCBS insurance/decent benefits. Good amount of PTO (4 weeks to start, holidays, and 2 floating holidays). WFH M/F and as needed. Solid company so job stability is good as well, which is important in this economy. Flexible in terms of appointments and schedules. Room for growth in your position. Most of mid-level management are kind and open to listening to you.

Cons

Definitely underpays compared to the industry standard across the board. Promises more money is coming year after year, but never delivers - senior management is the roadblock here - may not be the case for all departments though. Promotion does not always equal significant/decent pay raise. No sick days - lumped in with PTO instead. However, you can WFH when sick/as needed. Recently changed health insurance to no longer cover diagnostic testing/bloodwork at 100%, so you may get hit with a couple hundred dollar bill.
