Pros

Fulfilling job, working with, teaching, and nurturing children. Necessary resources available to succeed at job. Mostly positive atmosphere. Benefits package. Ample continuing ed opportunities. Nice breakroom and amenities. Fun staff appreciation events! You don't take work home.

Cons

Low wage. Benefits barely affordable, given low wage, with not enough PTO (no sick days). Ableist award (Don't Let Me Down Award, which awards those who never have to call off, which is often impossible for those with chronic illness). Company focuses on opening more centers and filling more spots over maintaining and improving what already exists. High turnover. No laundry allowance/we must replace our own uniforms. Not salaried (which I can see both sides to, but think it causes more problems with benefits, as nonsalaried employees). Very little room for career growth.

Pros

Role is fulfilling. Working with children, teaching children, and watching them grow is rewarding. Early childhood is one of them most important roles in the world. Since working with U-GRO, I have seen a lot of effort go into making things better for families, children, and staff. Every center has room to grow and I see this center doing that work.

Cons

Work-life balance is something every employee must prioritize.
