Nepotism in mid-level and upper management in Student Affairs promotes inexperienced employees to management positions. Lack of opportunities to move up unless someone leaves, retires or you know the right people. Unprofessional work environment and inappropriate, gossipy office culture. Pay is not conducive to living in Santa Barbara if you are a non-academic staff member. Reactionary messaging for community issues. Work/life balance is often discussed, but not honored or promoted.
