PhD Candidate - Anonymous employee UC Santa Cruz Employee Review

UCSC does not pay its graduate students enough to live in or near Santa Cruz. Other UC pay more, and are located where the cost of living is lower. Graduate students are in a strange place where they are not quite students and not quite employees. This results in many departments (though of course not all) treating their graduate students very poorly. Graduate students have little recourse in deal with mistreatment if they want to not burn bridges and continue with their degree.
