Pros

1. Cutting edge of medicine- I learned a lot from the OR staff.

1. Discussing pay or comparing wages was punished, retaliation was the norm. 2. If you weren't able to charm management and forcibly grab their attention then you would never receive positive feedback. 3. Management would also believe and reward negative gossip from those spreading rumors. 4. It was not a merit based reward system. Those doing well were constantly gossiping,(often cruelly) and never received criticism. There was no recognition of hardworking staff, in fact; the hardest workers were the least appreciated and frequently insulted. For example; management bullied one guy into taking almost every single shift needing coverage. He thought he was the only person available because they'd always ask him to take shifts with no warning in advance. In reality they never even asked anyone else to cover, and mocked him for being available/ having no life. No gratitude whatsoever. 5. No career path. They actually eliminated the position I was originally hired for and I was stuck getting paid about $4 less than my coworkers (and less than new-hires) because my temporary position became permanent. 6. Management decides when to fire people, regardless of the actual validity of a termination. They watch the department cameras to catch their target making mistakes, and reports it to HR. In most cases the victim quits to avoid being fired.

High Acuity patients Maintain Skillset Job security

Cons

Too many patients in a day and not enough time to spend with them. Minimal admin time to manage InBasket and patient needs. Frequently need to juggle a full and complex patient schedule with urgent test results and care coordination. Have to use personal PTO to cover holidays and any time the clinic is closed due to circumstances outside of our control. (weather, power outages, etc) Annual performance Bonuses are now being determined by online patient feedback scores.
