Pros
probably competitive salary compared to other academic institutions - but not compared to private practice
Cons
Toxic workplace environment. Many workplace harassment cases, a number of perpetrators even in vice chair ranks, protected by upper management. Upper management (chairman and executive vice chair) treat faculty and staff like expendable commodities. They demonstrated gross managerial incompetence during the height of the COVID crisis. They implemented a shift model, which forces faculty to stay till 10PM on several days of the month. Not healthy! This was not driven by operational needs but rather to impress UCLA management with the goal to extend the chairman's tenure who is due to retire. Nepotism is commonplace. The radiology department is in urgent need of new leadership.
