Pros

I'm no longer with the company.

Cons

Completely agree with a couple of the previous posts about UHY (Atlanta) being toxic and tacky (looks like a few of them have been deleted - shocker). There are various issues with the Atlanta practice. The main issues people need to be aware of are the complete lack of respect for employees and unprofessional office environment. The Atlanta office prides itself on having a "fun workplace environment", which in other words means highly unprofessional and hostile. Higher ups engage in this unacceptable behavior which sets the precedent for other employees to follow suit. There is a complete lack of respect for employees and no separation between what's professional/personal.I understand wanting to engage with co-workers, BUT there are lines that should never be crossed. Quite frankly, some of the behavior that's deemed acceptable is harassment and should not be tolerated INSIDE/OUTSIDE of the workplace. The lack of respect also shows in how they overwork employees. Management doesn't invest in properly training new employees, so the majority of the work falls on those who have the most experience.

Pros

Close to home, great work-life balance after busy season because there's nothing to do. You will get the big picture and see a lot in an audit.

Cons

No work is assigned to you, so even in audit you will do tax work. You'll spend your days hunting for work, and then you volunteer to learn something new and they won't let you. Then you get yelled at for not having more billable hours. You pretty much have to sit at your desk don't talk, and if you have no people skills / willing to bring people down you'll move right up. The office is very toxic and HR is practically useless. They pride themselves on paying overtime, but they give you way below market vacation days. You also have 120 hours baked into your salary of overtime, so you get stuck working 14 hour days in busy season. 6 days in your first year and 9 days in your second year. You spend weeks on end with next to no work because your job is not transactional. They are better off giving 21 vacation days like every other decent firm does and doing away with the banked overtime because you end up getting less days.
