Pros
I started working at UKG in 2022 after having been referred by several friends & family members who loved working there. I began in an entry level role, and my supervisor was very proactive from the start about discussing my career goals, career timeline progression, and skills I’d like to learn. At first, I thought that I was lucky to have such an amazing manager, but as I learned more about the company, I realized that this is the type of managerial support that is encouraged across the company. I received an endless amount of support while learning the ropes, and quickly grew a vast network of colleagues to turn to when I was in need. For the first time in my professional career, I was excited to go to work and interact with my colleagues (who very quickly became some of my best friends). As I continued my career at UKG, I also went through a number of significant changes in my personal life. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of support I received from my team, even several levels up the chain, as I tackled challenges inside and outside of work. I was intentional in my discussions with my manager about where I saw my career going, and we were able to identify projects and tasks that I could own to help get me there. In these conversations, I was also intentional in disclosing my personal perspective on taking on “additional responsibilities” as an hourly employee, and my manager was very receptive to these ideas and was constantly checking in to make sure I was comfortable with the bandwidth and workload I was choosing to take on. I continued to build my network through involvement in large-scale projects and connecting with other colleagues as I went about my everyday tasks. Towards the end of my second year here, an opportunity came up to join a different team in an entirely different part of the company. My discussions with my manager and the projects I had taken on prepared me for this move, and I was able to secure the position. The internal transfer process was seamless, and I have been in this new role for four months. I was nervous to leave my manager & team, with whom I had built a great relationship, but I was happy to see that it has been just as easy to build a similar relationship with my new team. Overall, I have had a life-changing experience working at UKG, as it has shaped my mindset around work-life balance, building meaningful relationships at work, and taking every opportunity I can to learn more (and it has paid off with new opportunities for me). UKG is ever-changing, but in my experience, the commitment to employees and culture has been genuine and real. I am incredibly optimistic about UKG and its future growth, and I can’t recommend working here enough. Some key highlights: -benefits are amazing (full medical, dental, vision for me and all dependents – US Only) -U Choose benefit allows $350 per quarter for things like gym membership, student loans, kids activities, etc. -workplace culture is great -opportunity for career advancement -company invests in tools to improve efficiency
Cons
-The change has been fast-paced, but the communication has been great and the intent is sincere. -The salaries are market-average in most areas, not market-leading. -It does seem like employee experience around management/leadership and workload may be different depending on area of the company
