Pros

It's a Level 1 Trauma Center that's a teaching hospital so you will learn a lot. Differentials are % based so they increase, if by the rare chance that your pay increases. Extra shifts are double time. So many incredible providers, nurses, PT/OT, PCT's, and radiology techs to get to work with.

Cons

Don't count on a yearly raise as the hospital goes several years without pay increases. Overrun with travelers who are hit and miss. The CEO is a terrible person who collected over $65,000 semi-annual raises for years after/during the pandemic while not increasing wages for employees. No accountability for unprofessionalism so floors are often ran by terrible people. If you want any decent paycheck you'll have to pick up shifts.

Pros

The job was fantastic and I very much enjoyed everything we did. The hours were great and it was the perfect distance from my home.

Cons

They waited until 4 days before my probation period was up, and brought me in a room with two supervisors and a random nurse and terminated me because “ I’m not a good fit for the team”. They say my clinical skills are impeccable and no one from the hospital had any complaints about me in any way. A few people decided for me that my personality was too big for their team to handle. That says a lot about management there. I’ve NEVER been terminated in 26 years as a paramedic, but I come to UNM with a big personality and they cannot handle it.
