Pros
-Disorganized units which has lots of overtime -Provides with updated equipment -Promotes nursing to higher positions within the organizations -Friendly and great environment to work -Promotes professional development -Supportive units and staff when in times of need -Better retirement assistance
Cons
-Lack of sufficient staffing which makes it unsafe for patients -Lack of support for Step-Down units -Lack of communication of changes / equipment in-services for weekend/ night staff -Cliches and friends being rotated to charge positions -Lack of communication between PCCs, families and physicians - Wages low for experienced nurses. - Units are left dirty, really need to be cleaned better and need to be thoroughly inspected daily. There is really an evening that other staff then housekeeping are removing garbage. It's really embarrassment for the unit and for the facility. UD's are not making rounds.
