Pros

DIA has a very corporate feel, but it is effectively run. Senior executives are frequently rotated which contributes to the corporate feel, but provides new perspectives and fresh leadership. DIA has such a large set of missions it is fairly easy for an employee to move into new areas and try new things in contrast to the smaller service intelligence centers.

Cons

DIA is reorganized far too often. It is hard to keep up with which office does what and what the office names are. Most employee policies are fairly standard when compared to the rest of the federal government. DIA has a mobility agreement, which is likely a con for many people. A mobility agreement means that the agency can move you at its discretion and deploy if necessary.

Pros

You have a chance to be at the center of defense policymaking. The salary and benefits are very competitive. The Thrift Savings Plan is a great benefit. PTO and sick leave are much more generous than in the private sector. The federal government is one of the few workplaces that still has a defined-benefit pension plan. The pension isn't huge, but it is enough to keep me out of poverty in retirement.

Cons

The promotion and employee evaluation system does not make sense. Toxic leadership, constant reorganization. I personally do not agree with the current leadership in D.C. and their policies, and that creates ethical quandaries for anyone working there.
