Pros

I dont realky have a lot of positive things to say about this place. Benefits.

Cons

I have worked in 3 different offices at DIA and they all have been dysfunctional. I would not recommend working at this agency ever. It is sone of the most nastiest peopke i have ever worked with in my life. Supposedly this is tge military. There is no concept of team. There is no plan actually when new employees come in to work. If you want to basically sit there and have nobody talk to you that's tge way it works here while you try to figure out stuff on your own. They have constant turn over at the lower levels in offices because tgey have such poor managers. Most are ex military or tgey have people who maybe were really good at their jobs but have no concept, personality, ability to be managing people as they lack people skills or tge concept of how to bring people on board. The place is a nightmare. Not only that it's an unhealthy environment. The particular place I work at now is cleaned by military personnel. Sickness will run rampant through because nobody cleans anything properly. It's an incredibly gross place to work. The facility lighting in tge offices is dim. The parking horrendous. They dont have phone lockers- using these old units to store phone out in the heat. And if you've not been in the military before then you'll feel singled out like your an idiot.

Pros

You have a chance to be at the center of defense policymaking. The salary and benefits are very competitive. The Thrift Savings Plan is a great benefit. PTO and sick leave are much more generous than in the private sector. The federal government is one of the few workplaces that still has a defined-benefit pension plan. The pension isn't huge, but it is enough to keep me out of poverty in retirement.

Cons

The promotion and employee evaluation system does not make sense. Toxic leadership, constant reorganization. I personally do not agree with the current leadership in D.C. and their policies, and that creates ethical quandaries for anyone working there.
