Pros

My position is low stress. I work hard during the day, but once I close my laptop I feel no need to think about work. This is a huge relief; I have not been this lucky in past jobs. I am loving max telework and am able to work from the comfort of my own home with limited distractions. Max telework and alternate work schedules have allowed me to have a fantastic work life balance. So happy not to be commuting right now!

Cons

Some managers have difficulty with telework and their communication has been poor during the pandemic. Unfortunately, their preferences seem to outweigh the reality. My co-workers and I are thriving during max telework, but poor supervisor support of max telework has me fearing it will come to an end soon. Other than this, I have no issues with management or my supervisor. I have had a very positive experience with them overall. Some of my co-workers work more diligently than others, but that is at every job.

Pros

General Federal government benefits: annual & sick leave, retirement investment options

Cons

Out of my 20 years of working, transferring here was by far one of the poorest decisions I’ve made in my career. I was looking forward to working here but I could sense that gut feeling of making a big mistake when I saw that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the shared files were outdated and management refused to remove them. Other frustrating things included the feeling of being back in junior high school: coworkers would gossip behind each other's backs, exclude others, and spread rumors unchecked by management. Unhealthy leadership occurred: Managers would rely on micromanagement and public humiliation to “motivate” employees and maintain control. Whenever I made an error, I was punished with shame rather than using it as a learning opportunity. Whenever I and others would make suggestions on how to make a process better, we were ignored.
