Pros

Serving in the US Navy provides a sense of patriotism and allows you to contribute to the defense of the greatest country in the world. The expirience and skills you gain through Naval Service are unique, yet highly transferable. The Navy still forges leaders that the private sector is eager to tap.

Cons

Advancement is based on timing. Pay is unrelated to job performance. Long deployments away from family can be very difficult.

Pros

- Paid twice a week - Health insurance - you get to move around

Cons

- you get degraded constantly - the base pay is basically nothing and the BAH doesn't keep up with the rise of the cost of living - they'll kick you out after 10 years for the mortal sin of being transgender - the health coverage would be great if you didn't have to go to completely incompetent military doctors
