Pros
Pay is was better in the Navy than on the outside. Plus getting a traditional pension is hard to find these day, and retiring in 20 years and ability to collect on retire is hard to come by.
Cons
You have to be flexible because you need to move almost every 3 years, and get ready for unexpected deployments overseas...including afghanistan and other hot spots.
