Pros
Gannett has always had layoffs and has always been budget-conscious but nothing like what's going on now. The people are the only pros left after the merger and there are barely any left. Remaining co-workers are a shell of their former selves making the work environment depressing. Benefits are good but who knows if they will be here in 2021.
Cons
Everything else! Gannett is honestly Gatehouse Media. They've put lipstick on a pig with the name swap and expect us not to notice. If you take a job here you will be looking over your shoulders after 6 months for the ax. Everyone is walking around on eggshells in fear of being fired. Speaking of being fired, Gannett fired 500 employees two weeks before Christmas and plans to do so every month until the almost 2 billion loan is paid back. Writing this review breaks my heart as I use to call Gannett home and my co-workers family. Just read a few news articles before you even consider interviewing here. Anyone thats anybody in the company has jumped ship or been thrown overboard. This will be the worst decision you've ever made if you come here. There will be many sleepless nights and anxiety filled mornings wondering if you'll have money for your bills. I've seen coworkers of 20+ years cut just as ruthlessly as employees that packed up there lives and moved here less than 6 months ago. The old Gannett is dead. Even that wasn't the best place to work. The new CEO is a place holder, here only to stir through the changes and is not making longterm decisions as he knows he's the actual scape goat for all the problems.
