Pros
There aren't a lot of alternatives in most Gannett markets. If you are geographically restricted as to where you can move you can ride the one horse in town or wear out your shoes walking into different industries. Having said that Gannett has not yet driven all the good people out, but slowly and surely they are drifting into other industries - disallusioned with the direction of the company and the outlook for the industry.
Cons
Top management is far too slow to react to market changes - "great ideas" happen in reaction to market and culture changes (sometimes years later). Initiatives that are embraced from the top have sometimes been languishing in the "ideas bin" for years. What will it take for the people at the top to wake up, shake up and get going?
