Pros

401k plan is the only good thing about this place.

Cons

I was lied to by HR when I interviewed for this position They told me that it was a very professional work environment with a good work life balance. They said I would take 8 financial advice calls pet day with clients that have money. I was told they were flexible on schedules, and understanding if you have issues that come up like traffic jams. All of this was a lie to get my talent in the door. They were extremely unprofessional at TIAA. This job is for people who don't have a college degree, and want to be treated like children. I averaged 50 calls per day, and talked to nothing but people in debt. You might get 1 or 2 quality calls per day that allow you to barely meet the sales goals if your talented. After your quality calls you'll spend the rest of your day transferring calls to other departments like a switch board representative. Something else management doesn't mention if a client presses zero on their phone they will get a Financial Advisor. So, you're working the front lines like a standard switch board representative. There's no flexibility at this place if your 2 minutes late you get an occurrence. They only allow 3 occurrences a month then it's a write up. This goes back to the professionalism issue. For those of us who have college degrees that have years of experience this a joke. So, you need to get to work at least 15 minutes early, which you're not paid for. The sales practice at USAA is also unethical. They expect you to sale annuities to 25 year olds. I will be contacting the Texas Department of Insurance to discuss this unethical sales practice. All of these factors combined with Management breathing down your neck contributes to a low morale and dissatisfied experience by employees. I guarantee if you get a job at USAA you will be miserable in less than a year. Also, if you're located at the Dallas office you will not have any opportunity to move up. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
