Pros

*Excellent 401(k) match *Friendly and caring coworkers *On-site amenities such as Starbucks, a fitness center, and more

Cons

*Since Stuart Parker became CEO, the emphasis seemed to shift from caring about members and employees to being driven by bottom line only *Too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to decision making; process improvements are made at a snail's pace (if at all) due to extremely bureaucratic environment *Promotions and hiring are largely based on who you know, not your experience or talent *Within the HR realm, there is a huge imbalance when it comes to how many people work in the Centers of Excellence (way too few) and how many are HRBPs (way too many) *The leadership team is gradually becoming more and more disconnected from the needs of the frontline employees *The pay is NOT competitive, particularly if you have worked at USAA more than a couple of years *The benefits used to be great but since switching from Humana to Aetna, the service and coverage have drastically decreased; additionally, the education benefit is wonderful to have but it is managed so ineffectively that it makes it super difficult for employees to use *There are way too many channels for submitting feedback and ideas; the organization could greatly benefit from having fewer but better-managed channels for communication *Very limited opportunities for career growth outside of the San Antonio office
