Pros

- Free lunch - 100% paid health benefits

Cons

- All new features and decisions ultimately come down to how the CEO is feeling about it on that day. Work that was worked on for months is suddenly not good enough. - Zero project management or process to take in new work or organize work so you'll be running around like a chicken without a head. - Fully remote teams means organization and decision making from the bottom up is nearly impossible, and that you'll be working all the time due to the varying time zones around the world. - The code base for almost all the software projects are a mess written by expert-beginners who started here as juniors and ended up staying because they weren't good enough to get a job elsewhere. - Tools and technologies feel like you've stepped back in time, but don't waste your time trying to improve them because your list of features to implement grows longer every minute. - You'll never have time or an opportunity to refactor or clean up the messes that are made by former developers because users don't care about your refactoring, only that the button is blue and aligned with the other buttons. Oh don't worry features customers actually want aren't important either. - Work life balance does not exist because at any point you'll be pulled into yet-another high priority feature or issue in the middle of the night because the company runs "lean". - A culture of "not invented here" syndrome where poorly maintained one-off scripts and tedious work is the norm instead of automation or using existing turn-key solutions because of unrealistic delivery dates due to poor project management. - The company communications is a mess -- everything is locked down, and transparency is NOT rewarded, half the daily challenge is managing all the conversations you're a part of. - So many other issues like offices closing down, zero vertical movement, shady things I can't even talk about, etc. If you value your software career and passion for software - don't let the "benefits" sucker you in - it's the old bait and switch tactic. This place will suck the joy you had for software development right out of you.

Pros

* I get to see and test some pretty cool products, and help the developers refine and improve them * There are plenty of opportunities to learn and improve your skills * The pay and benefits are fantastic * I get to work with some brilliant people, both on my team and in other departments * It's incredibly satisfying to find an issue and see it fixed

Cons

* Priorities can shift quickly, so be prepared to be flexible * Occasionally it can seem like our results for product testing are brushed off by the developers * The management structure is very flat, so upward movement is difficult * Did I mention that priorities shift quickly? We test dozens of products, and we are expected to produce results very quickly * The job is technically hybrid, but because most of the products we test are hardware, it can be difficult to work from home

Pros

- Startup mentality (lots of independent, meaningful work) - Take your own initiative (need to be proactive with tasks) - Good for expanding knowledge (get to work on several different product lines) - Flexibility (able to build your own hours, work when you need to, to get tasks done) - Benefits and Pay (amazing pay and benefits from the employer, would not trade it for anything)

Cons

- Face-paced environment (tasks can change on the daily, it's challenging but rewarding) - Working overtime (might be asked to work outside of normal hours - help finish urgent tasks) Overall, I think if you are looking for a challenge this is the perfect job for you. You are able to push yourself and learn a lot about the world of technology (networking, cyber-security, surveillance, etc.) So many different and unique products that Ubiquiti produces.
