Pros

Great discount Gratis is good but having worked for Sephora as well, theirs is way better. Fun customers most of the time

Cons

Glorified babysitter when your team is incompetent Store can quickly become a wreck when one manager isn’t pulling their weight Too many hats in this role and way too overbearing. I thought I’d need to see a neurologist for migraines but it turns out I was just way too stressed in my role. ai. And a big push for more and more ai in the future.

Pros

Ulta has an energetic, fast-paced culture with passionate store teams that genuinely care about the guest experience. One of the company’s greatest strengths is the opportunity to develop associates and promote talent from within. Leaders have the ability to coach, mentor, and help employees build meaningful careers. The partnerships with prestige brands and vendor representatives also create exciting in-store events, education opportunities, and a fun environment for both associates and guests.

Cons

The culture between stores can feel overly competitive rather than collaborative. At times, leaders are hesitant to openly share ideas or opportunities because of performance pressures, making it difficult to build strong partnerships across the district. District manager visibility can also be inconsistent, particularly for mid-volume stores that are farther from the district office. Leadership visits may be infrequent, and feedback is often centered on immediate opportunities observed during a single visit rather than ongoing coaching and professional development. As a result, managers at mid-volume locations may receive fewer opportunities for recognition, exposure, or growth compared with higher-volume stores.
