Pros
Working with makeup, and gratis!
Cons
Let me just start out saying that I don't know if all the stores are ran so horribly or if its just mine. I worked for 2 of Ulta's competitors, 1 being their biggest competitor for almost 2 years, and Ulta is by far the most inferior...and that's probably an understatement. I don't even know where to begin--the pay is awful; they do not spend the time to train you; they have no hygiene standards when it comes to putting make up on people or the brushes they use; the higher-ups think its perfectly appropriate to schedule an adult, who has no other job or school, for 4-5 hour shifts because they don't think employees will work as hard if they are any longer; management sits in the back room doing nothing but watching all the employees on camera; you will go NOWHERE career-wise. Nobody in the beauty industry cares about Ulta because they do not train and create make up artists there, and no one cares that you have worked with a bunch of products found at Walmart or Target. Maybe it is just my store, but I know that this store has been like that for years and the fact that none of the higher-ups have ever done anything about any of this says a lot about the company.
