Pros

Discounts, fun work eviornment if you truly love the beauty industry, great first job and that's about it

Cons

Lots of inconsistencies in each store. I went throught about 6 DM's in 2 years. You will have to prove yourself each time with the ever evolving company and if you miss the mark or someone just doesn't like you, then forget about advancing your career. If you don't "chase the carrot" as told by my DM then I would never advance. I was offered a SALON MARKET TRAINER position 3 times. Each time only offering me a dollar more per hour. What a joke! I'll keep my salon manager job and make about the same or more because I'll make that extra in tip income. Thanks! Little hours for the store and salon. BUT hey! You gotta make those unrealistic goals. For example my salon was trending 60%+ over LY but we wouldn't make budget buy 10%- that doesn't even make sense! I don't think goals are based on trends but rather push you and your team to the limit only to tell you that you and your team are just not good enough; even at 60% over LY AND $29 SPLH. All retail DMs have no experience in a salon setting or salon business.

Pros

Great discount Gratis is good but having worked for Sephora as well, theirs is way better. Fun customers most of the time

Cons

Glorified babysitter when your team is incompetent Store can quickly become a wreck when one manager isn’t pulling their weight Too many hats in this role and way too overbearing. I thought I’d need to see a neurologist for migraines but it turns out I was just way too stressed in my role. ai. And a big push for more and more ai in the future.
