Pros

Gratis, gratis, gratis. The amount of free products I came home with as a Prestige Manager is ridiculous. That, and the 50% discount on hair, nail, and skin services are the only redeeming factors of this job.

Cons

Stop opening stores and focus on the problems you have in your current doors. Running a 10,000 square foot store on two person coverage (excluding the salon, who can't even see the customers or the door) is impossible and ridiculous. A half-hearted, "Welcome to Ulta," shouted from the cash wrap is not inviting, and neither is having no one in the store to help guests. How stores run on such a bare-bones staff even while comping double digits is beyond any comprehension. And don't get me started on loss prevention. You're so focused on internal theft, with bag checks and clear bags, but the thousands of dollars that go running out the door because of zero coverage is killing the stores. And then blaming it on store teams with the "where were you?" and "why wasn't someone in fragrance." I could go on for days.

Pros

Great discount Gratis is good but having worked for Sephora as well, theirs is way better. Fun customers most of the time

Cons

Glorified babysitter when your team is incompetent Store can quickly become a wreck when one manager isn’t pulling their weight Too many hats in this role and way too overbearing. I thought I’d need to see a neurologist for migraines but it turns out I was just way too stressed in my role. ai. And a big push for more and more ai in the future.
