Pros
Excellent students, who are extremely prepared to go to College. Very safe campus. Good It and computing. Strong community spirit. A pleasure to work there.
Cons
Lack of communication from administration downwards. Administrators feel extremely threatened by staff, especially if you hold a Ph.D. Sorry, but an Ed.D. is not the same as a Ph.D. Many of the administrators have never taught in the college classroom. This college tends to hire from within, so good luck coming in as an external candidate into a full-time job with benefits. Very difficult to get hired here. If you have excellent credentials and experience, they tend to not want to hire you. Not sure if the one-stop is such a good thing. Some of the administrators are well into their 80s and not going to be retiring any time soon. That is problematic for people who are in higher education and can bring new resources and talent. Heard that I would have to transport between campuses during the day for a prospective job. One of my interviews wondered why there was such a turnover in that office.
