Pros
Average medical, dental, and vision. Can work holidays for overtime. Good pay (depending state). Provides bottled water, personal protective equipment, and bathrooms. Better retirement than social security. Can retire at 60, if you got the years. Always home after work (no travelling). Very safety conscientious. Promotes safety at all costs.
Cons
3 shifts.. no differential. Pay is the same wherever you work.. Same in Kansas or California. Only one choice for benefits, because contract is negotiated. No sick pay, so people come to work sick. Have to work 120 working days to get 1 week of vacation the first year, then 2 weeks there after. So if you arrive in November, don't expect any time off til the year after next.... To get one week. Can or will be forced in on holidays for low seniority. Company is always abolishing jobs, bidding and bumping (encouraged). Can't get comfortable in your position, because we have to abolish and rewrite the job..... Such a barbaric process. Its all about the Benjamin's for this company. Micro managed at every possible level.
