Pros

- Starting pay was great for me since I'd just graduated high school ($10/hr) - Work/Personal Life balance. Weekends off. Everyone's gone by 5pm (unless working overtime or something). - Scheduling days off was done on the computer system, and you can see who's already got days off on certain days, paid time off, everything. - Really cool bosses; they were professional, but still saw us as people who have problems, families, needs, and emotions. - Sometimes they bought us all pizza, bagels, or other food.

Cons

- They were hesitant to give me a raise (after a whole year, I got a $0.30 raise; I never asked, but still) - The entire company except for one or two parts of the company relocated from Utah to Texas. They prepared people and gave them money after laying them off, but again... still. - People they chose to partner with (reason for relocation) didn't seem to care about the employees or see us really as people (except for the select few "teacher's pet" employees). The 5 stars for "senior management" is meant for the people we saw on a daily basis. Not the new partners.

Unishippers Response

Thanks for your balanced review. As a company growing on a national scale, we’ve had to make tough business decisions from time to time. Although we wanted to keep everyone on board, we understand that not everyone was able to relocate to Texas. Thank you for your time and effort in helping us to become who we are today and we hope to work with you again in the future.

Pros

- Can stack some good foundational capital right out of college - Training was okay, but could use a lot of improvement - Fridays were pretty nice looking back on it

Cons

- Sales scripts don’t sell in this day in age - Buyers are informed and intelligent, add value on the operational side since the pricing isn’t anything special - Unishippers is backed by private equity, that means you will be cold calling all day - These people do not care about you, you are just a number on a spreadsheet - 7% commission is fixed, go to a company that offers tiered commission so you actually get more for the money you make for the company - Management will not give you space to breathe, expect to be micromanaged regardless of performance - You will have to spend extra time after work servicing accounts - You are expected to do things outside of your moral compass, research the lawsuits and that will pretty much tell you everything (Goes back to being backed by private equity) - No company match - Will get sold a dream, not the actual reality - Very high turnover, churn and burn environment
