Pros

RESEARCH YOUR FRANCHISE! base salary, plus a commission and bonus plan which is very generous. Potential to make a solid income the first year, second year, etc (refer to my title here). Willing to hire someone with no sales experience and offer a good opportunity. Flexibility in regards to schedules and the ability to work from home. B2B sales experience specializing in the small to medium size business sector. Industry leading 3PL/brokerage company. Strong product to sell with the technology available, shipping solutions (LTL, FTL, UPS small pakage discounts, international air freight), and customer service. I really enjoy the people I work with! This includes my franchise owner, managers, sales team, and the customer service department- they are wonderful people who care about Unishippers and you as an individual.

Cons

No room for long term growth, unless you buy a franchise. Training is minimal; you have to pay attention to the industry, your colleagues, and learn as you go. Corporate training was not as helpful as I thought it would be. Base salaries will never go up. Lots of cold calling is required and it can get repetitive. The logistics industry not for the faint of heart; it is very gritty and competitive.

Pros

- Can stack some good foundational capital right out of college - Training was okay, but could use a lot of improvement - Fridays were pretty nice looking back on it

Cons

- Sales scripts don’t sell in this day in age - Buyers are informed and intelligent, add value on the operational side since the pricing isn’t anything special - Unishippers is backed by private equity, that means you will be cold calling all day - These people do not care about you, you are just a number on a spreadsheet - 7% commission is fixed, go to a company that offers tiered commission so you actually get more for the money you make for the company - Management will not give you space to breathe, expect to be micromanaged regardless of performance - You will have to spend extra time after work servicing accounts - You are expected to do things outside of your moral compass, research the lawsuits and that will pretty much tell you everything (Goes back to being backed by private equity) - No company match - Will get sold a dream, not the actual reality - Very high turnover, churn and burn environment
