Pros

Flight benefits being able to stack/swap shifts.

Cons

Working for United Ground Express as a ramp agent in California has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. For the back-breaking work we do—lifting heavy bags, operating equipment in extreme weather, handling aircraft turnaround times under pressure—we’re paid a measly $18/hour. That’s barely enough to survive in California, let alone have any quality of life. The management is completely out of touch with what it’s like to work on the ramp. We’re constantly understaffed, rushed, and expected to do more with less. Safety often feels like an afterthought, and turnover is so high that we’re always training new people while trying to get flights out on time. There’s little to no upward mobility, morale is low, and the benefits are the bare minimum. We keep planes moving and passengers happy, but get treated like we’re disposable. If you’re thinking about joining UGE as a ramp agent, do yourself a favor and look somewhere else unless you’re desperate for a paycheck.
