Pros
If you worked in a good department, you could have a fulfilling career and the opportunity to learn a great deal. The pay is decent, and the benefits are good. Compared to some places, their health insurance benefits and 401(k) offered is great! But finding a good department can be a challenge. If you are lucky, you will probably have an amazing manager and supportive colleagues.
Cons
Working in the right department is key to the experience. If you work in a good department, it will make all the difference. Unfortunately, there a departments where it won't matter if you love what you do. Having a manager that is engaged and proactive, as well as supportive coworkers is crucial to your ability to work effectively. These two components are often lacking in these departments. Worse, you will experience apathetic behavior, rampant gossiping, and little accountability for bad behavior.
