Technology/systems that are in place are old/outdated or don't function well. There seems to be a LOT of different systems being used. Some of this could be eliminated by simply making the investment and getting 1 (new and current) system that does the same as having 5 different systems.
Sometimes Univar seems "old school" and hierarchical with the exec team (i.e. "only execs get these perks", senior leaders coming across as unapproachable) BUT with the new leadership I do see this changing and going away as the culture takes a more positive direction!
I think if they want to be competitive they have to offer more in terms of benefits for employees (good vision and dental, medical is okay, but no real perks like working-from-home or summer hours, and vacation) to keep the good employees and attract new ones.
