Pros

Company has good values, and is trying to incorporate a more unified and profitable workforce within. They offer good benefits, 401k and stock buy ins

Cons

Inside Sales is a newer concept at Univar and consequently under developed. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be embracing the true values of Univar. Inside Management is more focussed on proving they can spit out numbers in an effort to impress upper management of the capabilities of inside sales, than to actually developing, supporting, and appreciating the talent hired. They continue to suffocate already seasoned sellers with the demand to record their entire conversations with customers in computer notes and then to also painfully outline their step by step selling ideas and process to close on every single account. In addition inside sales has recently taken a sharp turn towards dog eat dog type of selling, to the point that sellers are strictly advised to STOP performing any customer service related duties and only focus on calls and numbers.

We take great pride in our sales organization and the value they bring to our suppliers and customers. We appreciate your passion for Inside Sales and thank you for recognizing us for our Company Values. Great teams need to be able to communicate with each other and we encourage you to talk with your manager or HR Partner with your observations. We are continuously improving and building Univar and need your help to improve any growing pains along the way. Thanks for all you do.

Pros

Unlimited vacation is a perk.

Cons

The company has serious cultural and leadership issues, particularly around accountability for inappropriate conduct. There have been significant concerns regarding a senior global employee’s behavior, including inappropriate sexual relationships with employees across multiple countries and concerns about misuse of position, influence, and company resources to support his behavior. The fact that these concerns were reportedly allowed to continue raises serious questions about the company’s commitment to "safety". Reporting concerns to HR was not viewed as an effective solution. A workplace cannot maintain trust when employees believe power and position can shield predatory behavior. Employees should also be aware that compensation expectations may not align with reality. Bonuses that employees work toward throughout the year will not be paid out as expected, and communication around these decisions has been unclear and last minute. Overall, leadership has appeared disorganized, unqualified, inconsistent, and lacking direction.
